I study foreign languages, currently Spanish and ASL (American Sign Language), and I'm trying to teach myself Greek. I'm teaching myself just by reading the Bible in Greek because I think it sounds like a cool way to learn, but I may never get very far. We'll see. I also study history and politics and economics.

My areas of scientific interest are politics and foreign diplomacy.

I really enjoy history and literature (if I don't have to really study the literature, is that lazy?) I also like some things about physics right now.

I like physics too sometimes. Its interesting to see how some things work if you follow me. My favorite chapter so far is either about waves or on atoms. What do you guys think about it?

And what do you guys think would be important for us to know in order to go into politics?

Peter,

Here are some studies that I thought of:
  • Communication: knowing how to effectively articulate your views, and how to keep your listeners from getting on the defensive is very crucial to politics.
  • Hermeneutics: knowing how to correctly study and interpret Scripture is crucial to the formulating and defending of a soundly biblical viewpoint.
  • History: poet and philosopher George Santayana said quite accurately: "Those
who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
So learn history so that we don't have to make all the mistakes ourselves.
"...your mistakes should be original and interesting, not redundant." - The Communication Catalyst

These are also some of my favorite studies.

With joy and peace in Christ,
Jay Lauser

What areas of expertise do you study?
Currently working day and night as a student. But homeschooling makes it okay because I can pick things I want to study:
Writing, Theology, Philosophy, Worldviews, Literature, History (the best), French, Rhetoric, Apologetics.
I also study Politics when I can, although it's not a part of school. But it's something ingrained in me since I was young: my dad is a Reaganite, and we always listened, read, and watched politically oriented stuff.
I spend an inordinate amount of time on baseball, although not an area of expertise, per se, I guess it is something I "study". I play for a Christian High School in the area as well as a metro team, meaning about 70 games in the summer...
I also study music, specifically guitar. I absolutely love music...
